About

"My main inspiration is the rich variety and vibrant colours of the beautiful Queensland Coastline..."

Born and raised in the beautiful sunny, subtropical city of Brisbane, Queensland.  I currently live in Stafford Heights with my Husband and two children and work from my home studio space.

I feel very privileged to live in Australia where I have ready access to some stunning and varied subject matter to work from. I often draw inspiration for my paintings from places that I have enjoyed visiting around Queensland.

I was one of those kids that was always doing something crafty or creative. From an early age, I tried everything artistic that I could get my hands on. This included, painting, drawing, pastels, watercolours, clay work, Jewellery making, cake decorating and even designing and sewing clothes.  Art was always my favourite subject at school, and I could not wait to launch into an arty career.

I had the opportunity to study fine art after high school, but on an impulse took a creative detour into studies in fashion and interior design. Despite helping me to develop artistically, these disciplines were not quite the right fit for me. I then spent several years in vocational wandering, studying psychology, working in Human Resources and trying many different jobs. Although I learned many skills, I always felt the desire to return to an artistic field. In 2005, I enrolled in a painting course at the Brisbane Institute of Art and I rediscovered my affinity for all things creative. Now I find that I have come full circle and returned to the occupation I enjoy the most, painting full time.

For now I prefer to paint landscapes and seascapes. I like the way this type of artwork can make any room feel larger or even change the mood of an area. Whether by using vibrant colours, introducing a feeling of distance or bringing a sense of the beach or a coastal sky into an indoor space.

My work is realistic in style, rich in colour and often displays my keen eye for detail. I am frequently told that my paintings remind people of a favourite place or holiday memory, or that they feel as if they could step into the painting to be in that special moment.  This is feedback I like to hear as I prefer to create artworks that provide the viewer with an opportunity for enjoyment, perhaps a sense of recognition or ultimately a feeling of escape from the everyday.
