I am currently working on a series of ocean/pandanus paintings inspired by another visit to the beautiful Noosa National Park on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. I have included a few details from these works here. Looking forward to finishing them and sharing them soon:)

RASart - Exhibition of Excellence is an annual exhibition open to members of the Redcliffe Art Society. It is held in the very modern and stylish Redcliffe Art Gallery at Irene Street, Redcliffe. 50 works in total are preselected from all the entries to represent the work of the society. This year I was lucky enough to have one of my paintings, Sunset at Imbil, accepted into this prestigious exhibition. Despite lockdowns and delays, I was finally able to get to the gallery yesterday, to see the show for myself. It was a real treat to see my little painting hung in this beautiful space alongside the work of so many talented artists. The exhibition will run until Saturday 24th July 2021. Plenty of street parking is available and entry to the gallery is free. Gallery hours are 10.00am - 4.00pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
Today was the first day of our new “Colour “ exhibition at The Old Fire Station Gallery at Redcliffe. I feel very privileged to be collaborating again with two very talented artists, Lin Stanton and Cecily Slade. This exhibition was postponed from earlier this year due to COVID19 and then rescheduled for September next year. It has now been moved to this month and will run from 11th November to 6th December 2020. Unfortunately, due to COVID19 restrictions there will not be an official opening event, but the Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10.00am - 3.00pm, at 395 Oxley Avenue, Redcliffe. You will be able to see a selection of my original seascapes and a number of my quality reproductions. Cecily Slade is presenting a new collection of beautiful large floral works in both original pieces and smaller reproductions. Lin Stanton is an intuitive abstractionist. She is exhibiting her new collection of exquisite small works that provide a multi-layered feast of intelligent complexity and clever use of colour. As a group, each of us are very different in our styles and approach to mark making. However, we are unified in our enjoyment of and preference for using rich and vivid colours. All works are for sale at prices to suit every budget. Everyone is welcome. I hope you can make it in to have a look. You are in for a treat.
I am excited to announce that I have this month joined the Manly Harbour Gallery as an exhibiting artist. They now have a selection of my artworks on display at the Gallery at 11 Cambridge Parade, Manly QLD. These works include several new paintings that I have recently completed. You can view these on my artist page on the Manly Harbour Gallery website.
https://www.manlyharbourgallery.com.au/catherine-hamilton-jones/ This small but perfectly formed gallery and gift store is owned and run by two talented artists, Jenny McNamara-Furlong and Jess King. It is located on the main shopping street in Manly Harbour just up from the Marina and is surrounded by some lovely shops and restaurants. They have a wide selection of paintings, sculptures and unique handmade gift items from some talented local artists and artisans. If you would like a breath of fresh sea air on the weekend or want a midweek break, why not take a drive to Manly. You can enjoy a meal or coffee, have a browse in the gallery and perhaps treat yourself to a new piece to add to your collection. Right about now is when you should have been enjoying the "Colour" exhibition with myself, Lin Stanton and Cecily Slade at the Old Fire Station Gallery, Redcliffe in Brisbane. Unfortunately due to the Covid19 situation, the exhibition had to be postponed. For the next few weeks, we have some of our work in their window display in case you are in the area and want to have a look. The gallery has just confirmed, the new dates for our postponed exhibition will be 27th September to 24th October 2021. Hope to see you all then :)
![]() Due to the current situation with COVID19, my exhibition that was planned for April/May this year has now been postponed to sometime in 2021. I will post details of the new dates later this year when we have got past all this uncertainty. In the meantime, I am taking advantage of lots of "At Home" time to start some new painting projects. This photo is a sneak preview of a new Work In Progress I recently started. Moving away from my usual colour palette and enjoying some sunset colours. Stay safe, and wishing you all good health. I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year for 2020. The first half of this coming year is shaping up to be very busy for me. I am excited to announce that I will be having another exhibition in April and May with the very talented artists, Lin Stanton and Cecily Slade. This time we will be exhibiting at the Old Fire Station Gallery in Redcliffe, Brisbane. This lovely gallery is the home of the Redcliffe Art Society. The photo above is the painting that is currently on my easel. I am working hard to complete this one and a number of other new paintings for the exhibition. I will provide more details of the event in the coming weeks on this news page and on my Facebook and Instagram pages :-)
Earlier this week, I enjoyed helping to hang some work in this group exhibition that I am taking part in. It is at the Petrie Terrace Gallery, home of the Royal Queensland Art Society. The exhibition, "Gems from the Closet" aims to showcase a variety of contemporary art styles from a number of artists, in a range of mediums. The result is an exciting and eclectic display of original artworks for sale that should have broad appeal for discerning art lovers. The exhibition runs from 14th - 24th August and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00am - 3.30pm. There is lots of parking in the surrounding streets. Well worth a look if you are in the area. You might find an art gem to take home and treasure :)
I recently entered two of my paintings in the Royal Queensland Art Society's Members Annual 2019 competition and exhibition at the Petrie Terrace Gallery in Brisbane. I was surprised and happy to be awarded Second Prize in the Works on Canvas and Board section for my painting "Boiling Pot Pandanus", pictured here. This painting and my other work "Pandanus View" will be on display and available for purchase at the Gallery until 4th August 2019. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday - 10.00am to 3.30pm. There is parking available on Petrie Terrace or in the surrounding streets. It is a varied and interesting exhibition of the work of some very talented local artists. Well worth a look if you are in the area :-)
