Early one morning whilst walking along the beach, I saw a single surfer floating serenely on their board just beyond the crash of the breakers. I was struck by the clarity of the light and colours in the scene. I felt motivated to capture the quality of the light shining through the breaking wave. I also wanted to convey the contrast between the relentless breaking of the waves and the air of calm that surrounded the surf rider as they waited patiently for the next wave.
