Such a nice surprise to find out that I had won second prize in the 2025 Royal Queensland Show Painting and Drawing competition, in the Marine/Seascape category. The icing on the cake was when I went to see the exhibition and learned that the painting had also sold. I really enjoyed painting this sunny sea view from the Noosa Coastal Track. I hope the new owners love having this artwork to brighten up their home.

Excited to have two of my paintings included in the 43rd annual Brisbane Rotary Art Show this year. The exhibition will be in the Foyer, Central Plaza 1, 345 Queen St, Brisbane City. Always a wonderful display of art to view and purchase. Proceeds directly support the community projects of the organising Rotary Clubs and local homeless charity partners. The gala cocktail evening is on Tuesday 15th July - 6-8pm - tickets on sale now. Almost 300 artworks will be included in the exhibition that is open to the public 14 -25th July. It will be well worth making the trip into the CBD to view this collection of high-quality artworks produced by local talent and Artists across Australia.
Last week I was thrilled to learn that I had won an award in the 2024 Queensland Royal Show Painting and Drawing competition for my work, “Pandanus Path”. The award was in the Marine/Seascape Class. I popped into the exhibition to have a look and was even happier to learn that I had sold that painting plus two other artworks. These are the moments that really make it all worthwhile. A big thank you to the collectors of my work. I hope they enjoy having them in their home.
It’s been several years since I last entered The Doyle’s Art Award. I was excited and grateful to learn that I have been chosen as a finalist in the 2024 Art Awards and Exhibition for my new painting- “Across Laguna Bay”. I have included a detail view here. I will post the full painting soon. Congratulations and good luck to all the finalists. Looking forward to what should be a wonderful show. 27/06 - 07/07 - Firth Park Community Centre, Mudgeeraba, QLD.
https://thedoylesaward.com.au https://www.catherinehamiltonjones.com.au I really enjoyed being a part of the 2024 Lethbridge Landscape Awards at the gallery in Paddington. Congratulations to the well deserving winners, it was an excellent showcase of some exceptional work. Although the Lethbridge Landscape Prize art show finished on Sunday 26th May, I was excited to learn that my finalist artwork has now been selected for the Riparian Plaza Travelling Exhibition. This exhibition will be June 1st - 14th at 71 Eagle Street, Brisbane City. I am very grateful for this unexpected opportunity.
Yesterday afternoon, I dropped off my entry to the Lethbridge Gallery for this year's Lethbridge Landscape prize. I feel very fortunate to be included in this group of talented finalists, congratulations to them all :) Looking forward to the opening night on 11th May. Finalists can be viewed online at Lethbridge Gallery - It must be very hard for the judges to choose. In my humble opinion the standard of entries in both the gallery finalist list and the "Salon des Refuses" is very high. These are also available for viewing on the gallery website. The exhibition runs from 9th - 26th of May both online and at 136 Latrobe Terrace, Paddinton, QLD.
I had a very enjoyble evening at the Nundah Festival Art Show, Awards Soirée last night. Such a lovely surprise to receive the 2023 Encouragement Award for my new painting, “Afternoon at Tea Tree”. A big thank you to all the volunteers and hardworking organisers of this great annual event and to Councillor Adam Allan for sponsoring the encouragement prize. The show was very well run with plenty of excellent local talent on display. I am already looking forward to entering next year😊☀️🎨🎪
I really enjoyed taking part in the Brisbane Rotary Art Show this year. It is the first time I have entered this show and felt very fortunate to have two paintings accepted into the physical exhibition and one for the virtual show. I was impressed with the high quality of the entries and the curation and professionalism of the display. Congratulations to the very talented and deserving winners of the art awards. I am already looking forward to entering next year :)
Had a very enjoyable evening at the Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Awards Night on Saturday 24th June. It was a very attractive and eclectic exhibition showcasing a large range of talented artists from all over Australia and included some international entrants. I felt very privileged to be numbered among these finalists. Congratulations to all the deserving winners. Already looking forward to next year's competition :)
